Free Weather Radios Available For Whitfield County Residents On Thursday

Whitfield County Emergency Management Agency will be giving away 100 NOAA Weather Radios on Thursday, from 4-6 p.m. at the Dalton Fire Station 4, 1800 Dug Gap Road in Dalton.

The radios will be presented to Whitfield County residents on a first-come, first-serve basis, one per household with proof of residency.
If one received a radio from EMA in the past two years, they will not be eligible to receive another at this event.


Whitfield EMA received a grant from Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security to purchase and distribute 600 NOAA Weather Radios. Other dates and locations for giveaways will be announced soon.


Dalton Police Department Promotions Headline Public Safety Commission Meeting

Two longtime members of the Dalton Police Department had their promotions to the rank of lieutenant confirmed by unanimous vote of the Public Safety Commission. Girl, 9, Killed When Vehicle Is Struck From The Rear On Cummings Highway In Lookout Valley

A nine-year-old student at Lookout Valley Elementary School, Aubrey Reel, was killed when a vehicle was rear-ended while waiting to turn into the new Taco Bell on Cummings Highway in Lookout Valley late Monday afternoon. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit and run driver on Lee Highway on Monday night. At 8:49 p.m., Chattanooga Police Traffic was notified about a possible pedestrian struck at    7356 Lee Highway.
